Exploring Hiking Trails

Looking for an outdoor adventure? The region of Sept-Îles is teeming with natural treasures waiting to be explored. With trails suited for all levels, hiking is one of the best ways to experience the splendour of the region.

1. Within the city, discover: 

Parc Aylmer-Whittom:
Trail suitable for all ages, ideal for hiking. Here, you'll find entertaining squirrels for children and a variety of birds for bird enthusiasts. Don't forget peanuts to feed the squirrels. 

Promenade du Vieux-Quai:
A stroll along the Sept-Îles bay spanning over a kilometre, offering splendid views, perfect for observing fishermen, ore carriers, and sunsets. At its eastern end, discover the sundial, the tide tower, and a representation of the seven islands of the archipelago.

Nature Trail:
A 3.5 kilometres cycling path providing views of the salt marshes, connecting the Ferland sector to Parc Aylmer-Whittom. You'll also encounter unique metal sculptures by Jean-Pier Synott, depicting a variety of animals and characters. 

Promenade des Métallos:
A 3.9 kilometres section of the cycling path along Route 138, with several rest areas and a parking lot, linking the eastern exit of the city to the beach area. 

Petit-Havre de Matamec:
Site 6 kilometres east of the Moisie River bridge, offering discoveries and ecosystems representative of year-round North Coastal biodiversity, with interpretation of fauna and flora. 

Ruisseau Bois-Joli Community Garden:
A large green space with 5 kilometres of hiking trails, considered the most northern botanical garden in Quebec. Here, you'll find incredible biodiversity with over 14,000 plants spread across 13 different themed gardens. This garden won the Phoenix Environment Award in 2003 for preserving and sustainably using biodiversity in environments.

2. In the region, ascend to the summit of Parc national d’Anticosti: 

Anticosti distinguishes itself with its exceptional character. Famous for its Virginia deer hunting, this island attracts more and more vacationers. Its spectacular landscapes and natural diversity make it an incomparable discovery destination! Located at the mouth of the Saint-Laurent Gulf, it has attracted salmon fishing enthusiasts to the famous Jupiter River for over a century. Hunters, fishermen, and nature enthusiasts... let yourself be enchanted!
